Hugh Belsey is an engaging speaker and one of the foremost authorities on eighteenth century art. He has spent the last fourteen years compiling the catalogue raisonné of the portraits by Suffolk artist Thomas Gainsborough, which was published this year by Yale.
At a similar talk an American museum director introduced him saying:
"This is Hugh Belsey who knows more about Gainsborough than Gainsborough did himself."
Following his talk Hugh will be in conversation with James Glennie, revealing fascinating mysteries of the art world and social history of the period.
